Mother's Comfort

This is my first cake using fondant. It is also the first one I've made using the cake sprinkles.

My take on the whole thing is this:

THE CRITICAL THINGS - Not thinking this was going anywhere but the trash, I didn't clean my edges up like I would if I was making it for someone. (After putting 3 hours into the decoration, I am actually going to take this to my mom on Friday. It may not be edible by then but I do at least want to show her.) There are some minor things that need to be cleaned up... some stray lines and flower edges, some powdered sugar haze on the chocolate fondant, etc.

THE POSITIVE SIDE OF THINGS - All in all, I look at this and think, "Hey, that's really cute." Technical boo-boos aside, I like the colors I mixed for the fondant. I think they work well together. I had FUN designing and decorating this cake. It's the most difficult so far, the most technical and the most fun. I'm into it!
